So as some may know, I have been working in a first grade classroom for the past month. It has gone by so fast, but I am learning so much and loving it! I have a lot of fun just being in front of the kids and acting like a complete goof...I hope they enjoy it too! :)
For the past month, my partner and I have been teaching a unit on Maps. We started big picture with the world and are now all the way down to their classroom. We used Google Earth and Google Maps and the kids were absolutely fascinated with it! It was so much fun showing them all around the world. It was too funny because I showed the student's the outside of their school with google maps and they all got so excited. It was a perfect tie-in too because one of the students asked if we could see the classroom, but that was the next activity planned was making a map of the classroom! It worked perfectly.
There have also been some pretty funny moments in the classroom too. One of the first days I was there, one girl was getting into all kinds of trouble, so I asked her to sit down when she was wondering the classroom. She was shocked that I knew her name, after having heard it 20 times from the teacher. She asked me if I knew her last name too and she was pretty disappointed when I fell short!
We also gave a reading test to the students yesterday and the kids had to use vocabulary words in a sentence. One of the words was 'huge' and a little girl made the sentence: My mom's feet are huge. I definitely laughed a little when she turned in test...too funny. The second sentence she actually made was with the word needed: My grandpa needed to stop smoking. Too funny!
It has really been a lot of fun, lots of work...tons of work actually, but truely a great learning experience. One more semester and then I get a classroom of my own! YAY!! :)

Britney Spears!
About a week and a half ago my brother and I went to the Britney Spears concert in concert and needless to say it was simply amazing! It's okay you can laugh...I am completely okay with it! :) I just remember getting her first album way back in the day. I would dance around my room to all of her songs, and make up awesome dance moves. And don't lie, you know everyone does this! :) Back then and even today her music is the perfect music to dance too. Whenever I listen to her songs I make up dance moves in my head...of course I never try to actual attempt them, but none the less she has awesome dance music.
While Britney has great music to dance to, her concert was no different. Honestly, my brother and I were dancing the entire time. We were those fools that were flaying their arms all over the place and never sat down. It was constant music and dance the entire show, and it was such a blast. I am so glad to say that I saw her. As messed up as her personal life may be, she is an excellent performer and it showed at her concert. Did she sing? Probably not. But thinking about it, I would much rather have her lip sync and dance up the whole stage than try to dance and sing live and it sound crappy. Honestly every one of her songs had some kind of choreography to it. Simply magnificient is all I have to say...I am going to join her tour and dance it up with her! ;)
Below I posted a few videos from the evening. I did a terrible job with the camera work, but it was so hard not to dance. The first video is my video, the second is a better version I found online. The last part was probably one of my favorite parts of the concert. It was a dance-off between all of the back-up dancers and it was sweet!! Oh good times!
Anyway, it was a great show, and I am still listening to her music today and I actually just downloaded a few more songs! :) I'm obsessed, and I am proud to admit it! :)
